Review of Total Recall (1990) by Alicia H — 23 Aug 2012
I am rating the correct Total Recall, not meaning to rate the new one. I just saw that one recently and wasn't impressed at all. When I saw the old one on Blu-Ray for $7.99 at Best Buy I had to get it and see the original to refresh my memory (I was 7 when it came out so its been awhile)...first off, it seems for a film made in 1990 it was way ahead of its times cause while obviously dated compared to today's standards, it had some cool features and it was probably mind blowing 22 years ago. Either way, it was better than the new one and why they mess with real good old classics is beyond me. Storyline was basically the same (except for the Mars thing). A lot of the rest had a ton of similarities except this one was just a good movie and apparently was made based on a book. The new one tried so hard that people who don't remember or never saw this one may have bad impressions. Give this one a chance though and if you want to waste a little time, compare it to the new one. Doubt you will find it better....
The only thing better about the new one was Bryan Cranston and that is just my opinion because I think he's the best actor around right now...
Don't think I'm alone in comparing the two films, curious to know what other people might think if they seen them both.
