Review of Torn Curtain (1966) by Erin B — 13 Oct 2008
An amateur Hitchcock with an A-List cast and impressive production values. After the fantastic Hitchcock films of the late 1950's, early 1960's, "Torn Curtain" seems like a return to Hitchcock's classic thriller formula.
Not that there is anything wrong with the formula, it's just that it's been done before with better results. That said, "Torn Curtain" still has a great performance from Paul Newman, and some very well done scenes, namely among them a murder scene set on an East German farm, and an illegal bus ride from Leipzig to Berlin.
See this for the stars and the sites, not for anything new from Hitchcock.
