Review of Torn Curtain (1966) by Michael Y — 21 Apr 2010
Not quite at the level of Hitchcock's other movies, but this action thriller is definitely watchable and has some suspenseful scenes. It has been said that this movie does show how difficult it is to kill a person, and there is a somewhat graphic (definitely for the 1960s) depiction of this.
Some problems with the acting chemistry is definitely apparent in this movie, and the climactic scene may definitely seem silly/implausible by today's standards. It has been said that Hitchcock had some difficulties working with Paul Newman.
Nonetheless, it should be on a Hitchcock fan's "Must-See" list, even if was made during a declining moment in Hitchcock's film output.
