Review of Torn Curtain (1966) by Curtis H — 30 Dec 2011
Quite a few excelllent scenes, and quite a few yawns inhabit this dated Hitchcock film steeped in Cold War paranoia and spy games. Julie Andrews and Paul Newman are unusual choices but play their parts with grace.
Certain shots containing split second freeze-frames are chilling, much of it is slow and uninspired. That said, Hitchcock never dissapoints and always gives us above average film-making.
