Review of Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) by Spyros T — 30 Jul 2011
A good film but falls into the same mistake that most war films make. It focuses too much on the events that led to this day and not on the characters that were involved and took vital decisions. You already know that the attack on Pearl Harbor is going to happen, and it does (No shit Sherlock!), and then the film ends.
Meanwhile the film does not offer any suspense, and the characters (mostly on the American side) act like wooden puppets reading security reports. In the end you get a great -considering that there was to CGI back then, battle scene.
At the end I felt more like watching some kind of acted documentary rather than a film.
