Review of Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) by James-Masaki R — 08 Dec 2011
Well, 70 years after the Pearl Harbor attack, and 41 years after this movie was made, it still stands strong as a great dramatization of the events leading up to and just after the attack. It's not a movie about characters or love stories, but a historical document in recreation. Very satisfying in that sense. Although the movie makes the Japanese out to be calculating, confident, and proud, sadly the Americans look confused, ignorant, and a bit dumb... wow, how things have changed.... (?).
The movie almost bankrupted Fox again, but luckily the film was a huge success in Japan box office wise. But because of this movie the Zanucks lost control of the studio...
