Review of Topaz (1969) by Louis D — 22 Dec 2007
Topaz's plot is incredibly convoluted, yet Hitchcock molds this arc into what is possibly the most astonishing narrative structure I've ever seen. The film consistently changes protagonists, antagonists and genre-focus, making for hazardous complications in fluidity.
Hitchcock oversees these potentially horrid transitions, however, with ease and cinematic poise, making Topaz his most impressive undertaking.
