Hitchcock's Topaz is a very long film involving US and French agents defecting a Russian family to the States. Cuba is secretly involved with Russia and the code name Topaz, all taking place during the height of the cold war.

The cast is good especially the romance between Frederick Stafford and Karin Dor, they flirt while talking business. It's to bad Karin's fate catches up to her as Hitchcock shows an overhead shot of Karin Dor falling slowly while her gown spreads like a huge stain of blood.

It would be more effective if she wore red. Topaz is all secret agent talk and less emotion but Hitchock never let's me forget his entertaining filmaking trademarks.
