Review of Top Hat (1935) by Elliott F — 19 Dec 2010
Depression escapism of the highest order, Top Hat is one of the greatest screen musicals ever made. One of the best Fred/Ginger musicals, Top Hat features fantastic musical numbers (including the absolutely magical "Cheek to Cheek") and a funny-enough mistaken identities plot.
All in all, though, Top Hat makes one yearn for a ficticious world of glamor, beauty, art, and wealth. Until such a world exists, Top Hat will have to suffice marvelously.
