The title of gayest film ever isn't quite deserved, but it is the massive amounts of homoerotic tension that make Top Gun somewhat memorable and reasonably enjoyable. Without that, there's not much to recommend it.
The dialogue is clunky and the plot is generic. Intentional or not, without the gay connotations, no one would remember Top Gun, except possibly as a film Tom Cruise was in.
