Review of Top Gun (1955) by Jay L — 07 Nov 2012
"HIGHWAY TO THE...DANGER ZONE!".
A high-flying, full-throttle, break-neck, high octane, pedal to the medal action thriller that single-handedly pushed the limits and strectched the boundaries of action filmmaking. Director Tony Scott (Crimson Tide, Enemy Of The State, Man On Fire) collaborated with the legendary Producer team of Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson. These three got together on a couple of occasions, Top Gun being the first team up, and man, these Guy know how to produce man made adrenaline and they load you up with an overdose of it in their films. Top Gun is action overload, a nonstop and endless barrage of altitude and sound barrier breaking intensity. Its a dizzying, frenetic, extremely tense and fully loaded action film that serves you up more than your dose of action. The high flying dogfights are some ofbthe most dizzying and visually bombastically sequences to ever be put on film, they are simply...amazing. An action classic, the film actually has a roller coaster named after it at King's Island in Cincinnati, Ohio and rightfully so, I mean this film is IN--TENSE! The story moves at break neck speeds just like the action, this is a Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer trademark, these films are all style over substance and that's a great thing for most people, I personally love films that take in style over substance. They are made to entertain and that's just what they do. Prepare yourself for some dazzling dog fights and some seriously dizzying cinematography and action. Top Gun is top notch entertainment the entire way through.
