Review of Tootsie (1982) by Michael O — 20 Aug 2008
Pretty fucking funny. The 80s truly was the only era where you can make a movie with a premise this ridiculous and take it seriously. It's one of the strangest performances Hoffman has done, he's real funny.
Pollack's no slouch either, he does comedy fine. You actually buy into the whole thing until things get pretty weird and the allusions between the vulnerability of acting and feminiity come up. What the hell, it's Tootsie.
