Review of Toni Erdmann (2016) by Alonso A — 19 Jan 2017
If you like you drama to be absurd, realistic and off-the-wall, then you are in for a surprise. With a premise that seems hard to believe, it works exceptionally well in a realistic context and with a set of characters that are so well-drawn and nuanced, it is hard not to be absorbed into the eccentricities that follow.
Spearheaded by fine performances and a screenplay that make you squirm, laugh and emphasise at the same time, you forget that you are watching 160 minute film because you simply cannot take your eyes away from the madness that is being unfolded.
