Review of Toni Erdmann (2016) by Lisa K — 13 Mar 2018
I wish that I liked this film more. I usually like slow moving films with tons of character development. I found this one very annoying most of the time with a few funny scenes and some touching moments.
I never really got attached to the characters and this is the magic ticket for me. However, I can appreciate all the SUBTLETIES and effort that set this movie apart. The complexity of a father/daughter relationship is highlighted as well as the passage of time.
I wouldn't have made it through the three hour movie if it wasn't for my movie club, but I am glad that I did as it provides a great discussion.
