Review of Tomorrowland (2015) by Dharma — 23 Sep 2015
It doesn't deserve its abysmal box office result, but Tomorrowland's problem is simply its tone: its too 'kiddy' for adults but too scary for kids. Brad Bird may be a good director but he is no Steven Spielberg, who can balance action, scary bits and humor equally, and this is the type of film that the Master Director can do so easily in the past.
It's not a bad film, and the crew gave their best effort, but this 'original , franchise type of film' is simply not Disney's main forte. Good thing they now own Marvel and Lucasfilm....problem solved for the future.
