I was NOT looking forward to this at all, being a huge fan of the books. The trailer made me cringe and I just wanted to forget about it. On a whim I went to see it at the cinema and really enjoyed it.
Sure, it might not be the greatest piece of film-making, but I feel they did the best they could have. I would have done away with the colour tone shift, myself, but that's a matter of taste, I suppose.
