Review of Tomorrow Night (1998) by Rhys H — 02 Feb 2014
An absurd and hilarious early work from comedian Louis CK. The Independent film from 1998 reflects his comedy style from the time and is similar to the short films he was making around then (check them out on his youtube channel). Rick Shapiro in drag, JB Smoove and Joseph Dolphin have some great over the top performances that contrast well with Chuck Sklar's dull as fuck main character. The funniest moments however are those between Greg Hahn, Robert Smigel and Steve Carell. Every scene of the Private Willie subplot had me howling right along with the horrible army mailroom workers. There were minor technical issues such as some blown out shots that cut together awkwardly, but it's not a film about perfect visuals.
Check it out if you want something absurd but not pretentious while still being genuinely laugh out loud funny.
