Review of Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) by Robyn M — 09 Dec 2008
Ahh, my first James Bond movie. So, what was it like ten years later? I found it to be pretty meh. The film reverts to the more silly approach, and becomes outlandish and uninteresting. There are several lapses in logic and too many coincidences.
I don't think Michelle Yeoh makes for a good Bond girl, and although I love Jonathan Pryce, the villain is rather uninteresting. That one german assassin in the beginning was much more interesting, and the movie should have been made about him.
Speaking of which, there aren't enough german James Bond villains. I have observed that Germans always tend to make for the best villains in action movies. But I digress. Overall, it isn't bad, but it's just another by-the-numbers Bond movie.
