Review of Tombstone (1993) by Christopher S — 15 Sep 2011
One of the best Westerns in the last 20 years. Kurt Russell is amazing as Wyatt Earp but it is Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday that steals the film. He's got the best lines and the best scenes. I was not so sure if Kilmer could pull off a Doc Holliday, especially since his role has been played quite differently in all the Tombstone stories.
I would go so far to say Kilmer deserved awards nomination for his turn as the good Georgia dentist with a fast draw. Sam Elliott and Bill Paxton are always solid as strong supporting characters and this film was no different.
While I thought the chemistry between Dana Delany and Russell was weak, that did not take away from the overall strength of this film. Highly recommended film.
