Review of Tomb Raider (2018) by Lizz H — 17 Apr 2018
DIFFERENT TO THE PREVIOUS TWO WHICH REALLY WERE PRODUCTS OF THEIR TIME. tHIS IS MORE REFLECTIVE OF WHERE THE GAMES HAVE CURRENTLY TAKEN THEIR AUDIENCE. Alicia vikander does a good job, some have called her performance wooden but given her character is still grieving for her father and driven by his disappearance she is hardly going to be turning cartwheels.
Vikander is very athletic and does justice to the action scenes and the cinematography is good. The plot is ok, but there is very little left by way of tombs and adventures that hasn't already been covered in this genre.
All in all, a pleasant 2 hour watch, not Oscar material, but then, so little is.
