Review of Tom Jones (1963) by Daniel P — 10 Aug 2008
Suffers from the source material, in that bawdy 18th century romances are easier to laugh at, rather than with, in modern times. See, e.g., the SNL sketch "Tales of Ribaldry" with Jon Lovitz and Mel Gibson. The one redeeming scene is the sexy food-eating scene - still hilarious. But otherwise it's just a bit too slow.
What, no "What's New Pussycat"? No "It's Not Unusual"? What kind of Tom Jones biopic is this!?
