Review of Tom Jones (1963) by Carlos R — 04 Aug 2010
While a good film, and humorous, I am amazed it won best picture. It is not a phenomenal film and has several weird attributes. Sped up scenes and breaking the fourth wall are the most noticably weird parts since they don't necessarily enhance the film.
It is an interesting story that feels a bit long in watching but overall is well done. It certainly captures a time period - both in story and filmmaking - and is a good representation of the English wit and time period.
Though overall does not go over well, does not apply today, and is a film that has been forgotten - and rightfully so.
