Review of Tokyo Gore Police (2008) by Jim A — 06 Jan 2009
Jesus H. Christ. I have absolutely no idea what to say about this movie except that Yoshihiro Nishimura must be one fucked up individual for making a movie like this but, even more so, I must be one fucked up individual to have had so much fun with it.
It is absolutely ridiculous and most of the time it's just a flimsy plot holding together scenes of extreme, comic-like violence. They must use 10 gallons of fake blood in the first five minutes. The special effects really aren't even anything special.
But the movie is so entertaining that you forgive it all it's faults...you know...if you're into that sort of thing. Do you find the concept of a man pretty much swallowing a running chainsaw and then spraying blood for a solid minute funny? No? Then this isn't the movie for you.
Otherwise, sit back and enjoy. I've been trying to think of other films to compare it to like 'The Machine Girl', 'Ichi the Killer' or 'Battle Royale' but there just isn't anything like it.
Oh and check out that one-sheet. That thing is bad ass.
