Review of Tokyo Gore Police (2008) by Lizzy D — 29 May 2009
This movie is just a bit ridiculous. If you like gore, people who bleed like waterpark rides, and corrupt cops this is the movie for you. The storyline is Ruka is a cop in the privitized police force whose main concern are mutants called engineers, who when are injured grow back weapons from their wounds. A strange concept that seems like an anime tried to make real. Personally some of the scenes were too gorey for my taste. The story overall did not impress me. The redeeming factor was the character design. The dog lady, whose name I don't know so I called her Stubs, was a very interesting idea. Crocodile lady was also extremely imaginative even if she was really disturbing. One scene I did like imparticular was when Ruka dressed up as a prostitute and was molested on the train. Took the guy off and cut off his hands. It was heartless, cold, and beautiful.
Overall it was an alright movie. Nothing to write home about.
