I really had trouble getting "drawn into" this film. The gore is far too fake to make this a good slasher/samurai/horror film. The humor is far too sparse and tawdry to make this into a cheesy comedy.
Additionally, this film is FAR too drawn-out. Brief flashes of great cinema, but interlaced with rampant dullness, and a plot that meanders aimlessly. Not something I'll be watching again.
