Review of Tokyo Drifter (1966) by Jeremy C — 03 Mar 2008
The visuals for this hardboiled gangster flick are dramatic and sometimes stunningâ??a mad blend of cartoonish colors and bold compositions. Tetsuya Watari plays the filmâ??s belabored hero, aptly named "Tetsu.
" Itâ??s a credit to Watari's charisma and style that he is able to generate sympathy on the part of the audience for his character, considering the movie as a whole has all the emotional weight and impact of watching paint dry.
