Review of To the Wonder (2013) by Ian H — 13 Apr 2013
A beautifully filmed snoozefest. Something that could easily be misinterpreted as "meditative" when it really has no plot, no characters, and no real vision outside of Malick's very obvious spiritual crisis.
It's even more tragic because Olga Kurylenko makes the most of it and is a total revelation, but still, I can only look at shots of empty rooms, open doors, and great plains vistas for so long before I want to fall asleep.
