I don't get it. There's multiple independent stories mixed together like water, oil, and ...mercury? Anything that doesn't mix. They're pretty and relaxing, passionate and convoluted, swirl around and go nowhere, start and end with no warning or reason, and in the end, leaves you feeling a little... lost.
On second thoughts, maybe that's exactly the Rome experience he wanted us to have... very meta. Increasing the rating with that realization.
