Review of To Return (1982) by Lisa R — 17 Sep 2008
In the past years, spanish films have found a way in my heart through their storytelling. To name some at the top of my head, El Orfanato, Laberinto del Fauno, Espinazo del diablo, Amores Perros, and now the whimsical Volver has won me over.
Almodovar has proven himself to be up to par with Guillemro del Toro. The storytelling is engaging as are the shots and frames in the film with it's vibrant colors. It unfolds elegantly but in a complex manner to portray the life of disappointed women with dark humor and twisted plots. Delightful.
