Review of Anna and the Apocalypse (2018) by Lisa R — 01 Dec 2018
So much potential. It's sad that a movie just has to have a catchy concept at the right time, can do a half assed job on the rest and the film is still praised.
Illogical decisions by characters, which is expected in a horror film, but this is a horror comedy, and even so... you canâ(TM)t/donâ(TM)t fight off 8.
Zombies, but have no problem with 25 while singing? Speaking of singing, music is terrible! Like a half assed blend of âHigh School Musicalâ? and âRocky Horror Picture Showâ? but... maybe this music just isnâ(TM)t my taste? (Although I do like âRocky Horrorâ? just not a half assed one.) Music didn't blend with the story or meaning of the film, just... what would be fun right now? Choreography is poor to nonexistent. Some scenes I wonder if they just asked the actors to dance on the spot.
Christmas... worked well for funny locations and props, but not really blended into the plot. It was just a backdrop, any holiday would have worked. A zombie Easter bunny is just as funny as a zombie snowman.
Oh and you do a zombie musical and pay no homage to âThrillerâ?? Whereâ(TM)s the respect?
