Review of To Return (1982) by Luca V — 22 Mar 2009
I am speechless. I mean, it is perfect. Almodovar is full of surprises, all this sympathy between women. It is said that women do not get on. Probably this is untrue for Spain. In the extras there is this section where Almodovar interviews the actresses who, chorally, won the Palme dâ??Or.
They look glad to have played in the film. And he has good words for all. For Carmen Maura, which is the biggest surprise, because her character is supposed to be a ghost, for Lola Duenas who is defined - hermetica -.
So, one who calls like that a shy person is a genius. The subject is not easy, all the obscure things that can happen in a family are unraveled with softness. Music, food are a great comfort. Moreover one can breath fresh village air.
Very fresh because of the wind of the Mancha. I think Penelope Cruz said she was inspired by Sophia Loren for her role, well, probably she said Magnani, but for the beauty she is more alike Loren. Anyway, there are these stories, which are puzzling and they probably would have lead a 100% urban dweller to a psychoanalysis.
Aha, there is Augustina (B Portillo) that actually tries to solve her problem using a modern way, I mean she takes part to a TV show, one of these talk shows in which one tell about his business but she repents and she says goodbye to the morbid anchor woman.
So, follow the red Ford Station wagon and you will discover the beauty.
