Review of To Return (1982) by Danita S — 14 Jul 2009
Admittedly this review is hard. Not because this movie isn't great(it' stunning) but because it's hard for me to not turn into a puddle of happy girl-goo just by thinking of Penelope Cruz. She's beautiful, interesting, and under Pedro Almodovar's excellent direction gives a performance that's blindsiding. I know many good actress went up for Oscar's that year but I'm gonna say she knocked them all outta the park.
Of course the rest of the movie is equally as great, heartbreaking, and stunning..but then again it's Pedro Almodovar working from his favorite subjects(the life of women, and the secrets and pain that families can bring) so you know it goes without saying that it's wonderful.
