Review of To Live and Die in L.A. (1985) by Marc L — 22 Sep 2007
After the controversy following CRUISING and the box-office flop that was DEAL OF THE CENTURY (1983), Friedkin is back in top form here with another outstanding crime drama, a sort of Miami Vic e from hell where a secret service agent will stop at nothing (and I mean nothing) to avenge is partner's murder.
Here again, Friedkin shows is love of ambivalent themes and not-so moral characters. First major role for William Petersen (C.S.I.) and Willem Dafoe is superb as the main villain. Wang Chung's very 80's pop musical score is a bit dated, though.
