Review of To Live and Die in L.A. (1985) by Bradford D — 03 Apr 2011
"To Live & Die in LA" is a 1980's music video. Those of you older than 25 might remember them; they're what was shown on MTV before it became 24 hour reality TV. In it, no one says very much.
They just look moody and deep as the bad techno-pop plays incessantly. William (CSI) Peterson is especially good at this in his younger days. Willem (Green Goblin) Dafoe seems to have moody down pat as well.
He's a talented painter who is so tortured he burns his paintings after each is finished. But don't worry. He uses his artistic skills to counterfeit, so it's not a complete waste. About two-thirds of the way through this video "TL&DiLA" turns in to "The French Connection" and we are treated to a 30 minute car chase scene.
The denouement is not half bad, but by then I just didn''t care any more.
