Review of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) by Josh D — 18 Nov 2011
We 'had' to watch this in English today, and that was with no complaints at ALL from me! Well, everyone else seemed to disagree.
First of all we are reading the book for our exams, and as a fan of the book, it's a perfect adaptation despite the odd plot differences, that really don't need to be added to the film to improve it. The film itself is a stand-alone achievement in cinema.
The acting is superb, particularly Gregory Peck who becomes Atticus, with Mary Badham being an incredible young talent in this. The screenplay, (obviously) was very good, as of the novel. The direction is appropriate and the score is just perfectly fitting, I really can't think (right now) of any flaws, really enjoyed it and one of the best films I've seen.
