Review of To Have and Have Not (1945) by Grant H — 02 Jul 2007
This movie is the poster-child for why smoking should be allowed in film. Not only do we see Lauren Bacall (in her screen debut) light up and fall in love with Humphrey Bogart -- but we also see some of the sultriest dialogue ever in film. "You know how to whistle, don't ya Steve?...Ya just put your lips together and...blow...".
Also includes Bacall singing Johnny Mercer's "How Little We Know" and duetting with Hoagy Carmichael on "Am I Blue?" Easily on my short-list. Five stars!
