Review of To Have and Have Not (1945) by Sean K — 16 Jul 2007
Essentially a remake of Casablanca, but this is by far the greater film in my mind. Howard Hawks eschews melodrama for electric entertainment, with Bogie and Bacall absolutely melting the celluloid. The great supporting cast includes Walter Brennan, Marcel Dalio, and the one and only Hoagy Carmichael.
