Review of To Have and Have Not (1945) by Ken T — 28 Sep 2010
"You know how to whistle don't cha..." begins one of the best lines in cinematic history spoken by Bacall to Bogie. To Have and Have Not is based on an Ernest Hemingway novel and director by one of America's finest filmmakers, Howard Hawks.
The story concerns fisherman Bogart who gets caught up helping out the Allies during WWII. The sparks really fly between Bogart and Bacall and their love affair is the stuff of movie legend. Great dialogue and terrific performances.
