Wow! This is a very powerful movie (though hard to watch at times--due to the tortures/cruelty they endured at the prison camp, etc). It's based on a true WWII story (taken from the book written by the main character in the movie) that has a surprisingly strong Christian message.
I don't think it would be one I'd want to watch often, but I was touched to have seen it once.
