Review of To Die For (1995) by Luke B — 24 Aug 2007
I loved this film. Super Kidman was super sexy and super dooper. The film managed to hit all the right nots where it's dark comical satire is concerned, which is right up my alley. Kidman and Phoenix do a brilliant job in creating memorable and most importantly understandable characters.
Van Sant does a terrific job at tricking his audience and throwing us into Kidman's delusions of fame and importance. The funeral scene is hilarious and wonderfully captures Kidman's cold heart and selfish nature.
To top it all off there is an instantly familiar score from Danny Elfman, whose twisted gothic tones contrast well with the surburban nature of the film.
