Van Sant still perfecting his craft at this stage, a nice in between between his commercial and arty styles. Kidman is probably at her best here, and I get a kick out of the young supporting cast. The talking head bits don't gel as well as they could.
On repeat viewings I can vouch that it is a lot funnier.
