Review of To Die For (1995) by Michael Y — 31 Aug 2010
Nicole Kidman stars in this dark comedy that's not that funny and not that dark. But it's pretty sexy.
To Die For is about Suzanne Stone who tries her best to do whatever it takes to be on tv. It's her personal and moral philosophy to be famous. But though she tries, her husband just wants to have a normal family. Suzanne doesn't like that plan, so she seduces students she's filming for her documentary into killing her husband. It's a good angle for a movie, but the writing and the direction was a bit of a bore. Like I said, it wasn't funny enough of dramatic enough to be a good dark comedy. But non the less, I must say that Nicole Kidman looks her best in this movie and does a great acting job.
This movie does in fact have a very cool angle. It goes half actual movie and half documentary. Through the whole movie you get to see little interviews with the characters, which works wonderfully to understand the charcters and their feelings. The music is also composed by legend Danny Elfman.
Downside; no nudity. But this movie does have it's moments, and the acting in this movie is very well done. So you just see what you think of it. Some love it, some hate it. I say it's alright.
