Review of To Die For (1995) by Joel A — 17 Apr 2013
The far more 'playing it safe' film then a lot of his previous films and although more linear still has identifiable quirks of Gus Van Sant.
Nicole Kidman is great as the sickly sweet & ultimately a nasty piece of work in the end. Although it's a little over the top this film it's still interesting & things warm up once Joaquin Phoenix appears on screen.
Full of targeted digs at US Media & how it is so easily manipulated, an interesting watch & not your typical thriller...basically the story of a woman who will do anything to be the big name in media....anything!!
