Review of TMNT (2007) by Joseph W — 18 Sep 2010
I saw this twice in theaters because I was such a TMNT crazed lunatic as a kid. It's an interesting idea to not have the turtles facing their arch nemesis The Shredder, but it certainly wasn't as good. The visuals are fantastic as the entire movie is in sweet CGI but the story of ancient creatures being summoned from the dead to take over New York City is a bit dumb. The monsters in the movie were done pretty lame-ish and like I said, no Shredder to be found in this one.
TMNT did a great job showing the on again, off again rivalry between Raphael and Leonardo and even has a very kickass fight between the two. At the end it proves to be entertaining at the very least. It seems that for everything they did wrong, there's something they got right. The story sucked but the voice acting was okay. The villains were terrible but the CGI was a decent idea. So for all bad things in this one, there's a bit of good to cover it. TMNT is good fun for all ages and very nostalgic for people like myself who grew up on the original.
