Review of TMNT (2007) by Twins S — 23 Nov 2013
Finally, the Turtles are reunited. This 4th instalment is the first animated movie of the series featuring a great CGI design of the turtles supplanting the nice animatronics-costumes-formula used in the previous live action film.
TMNT, was awaited for 14 years, and us being super fans of the turtles could not have missed watching the movie on the big screen when it released in 2007. To remember we were the only 2 adults in a theater matenee rightly full of kids.
In many ways the story is for them, a battle against a series of mythical monsters, mysterious stone warriors and The Foot in order to save the city. Still though the fantastic action scenes and the dialogues preserving so much fun from the previous movies made this new TMNT so worth to watch.
Here, Imagi Studiosâ(TM) CGI animation replaces the animatronic suits, and their turtles design is powerfully lithe, giving that flexibility and speed that was missing in the first 3 live action movies.
Yes we love the live action Turtles, especially the first 2 movies, but imagi approached to the new medium and used of CGI in a very remarkable way. The direction is fantastic too bringing in nostalgia and excitement creating a fun action movie for old fans and new generation followers. At times when watching TMNT we felt back in time to when we watched that great fantastic first live action movie in awe to how amazing were the 'real life turtles'.
In this TMNT the CGI is great, the turtles design is the most beautiful ever made (even though the new nickelodeon design is captivating).
Some of the scenes are memorable, the beginning ad the way the turtle are presented in the movie is exciting, filling in the long awaited expectations. Most notably the face off on the rooftop between Leonardo and Raphael...is such an amazing scene, breath taking, a real character developing moment.
Having continuity from the first three films, with references spread all around the movie TMNT is the BEST stylised ninja turtle movie ever brought onto the big screen so far.
