Review of Titus (1999) by Jean G — 20 Oct 2007
A surreal take on Shakespeare's first and most violent play. Except for a minor moral about loyalty to one's blood and family before anything else (you should note, Titus has tragedy visited upon him because he slays his own son at the behest of the state, and pays no heed to a mother's plea for he eldest son's life), it's pure meaninglessness - style and violence and cruel schemes carry the day throughout.
