Review of Titus (1999) by Peter B — 23 Oct 2007
An utterly confused and disjointed adaptation. Mixing contemporary with period, it succeeds at looking like an amateurish mess. It varies from being utterly camp to a poor attempt at being dark. For an 18 the violence/gore is present but completely restrained.
For extra annoyance, throw in a bit of random bullet time, pretentious monologue, an annoying child actor and random dream sequences (none are used in a good way). No wonder Hopkins completely phones it in.
