Review of Titus (1999) by Lyndsay S — 02 Apr 2009
This movie was bugfuck, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Again, this was something that Iâ??ve never seen before, nor could I ever have imagined the visual power that Taymor would wield over this.
Yet she confuses visual beauty for narrative coherence, which means that the film may never break out for a mainstream audience. Ultimately thatâ??s the point, which means that this will be an expressive and confounding work for many generations, and functions as the last millenniumâ??s final great artistic triumph, along with its most polarizing.
