"THE UNSINKABLE SHIP AND THE ICEBERG".
- 'Titanic' is a 1997 romantic disaster movie written and directed by the great James Cameron (Aliens, Avatar), based on the actual events that happened on 15 April 1912. At the time it was the most expensive movie ever made. Being a commercial success and winning 11 Academy Awards, 'Titanic' brings the tragic events of the largest ship that sank on its maiden-voyage and the fictional love story between first-class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater and penniless artist Jack Dawson. Very recognizable is the soundtrack and moreover Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained), Kate Winslet (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Billy Zane (Twin Peaks), Frances Fisher (The Host), Jonathan Hyde (Anaconda), Kathy Bates (Misery), Victor Garbor (Argo), Bill Paxton (Aliens) and with guest appearance by Jenette Goldstein (Aliens). The year is 1996. Treasure hunter Brock Lovett (Paxton) and his team search the wreck of the Titanic to find a lost priceless diamond, 'the Heart of the Ocean'. They stumble upon a safe that contains a drawing of a naked young woman wearing the jewel. 101-year old Rose Dawson Calvert claims to be the woman in the drawing and visits the vessel of Lovett to tell her story.
In 1912 Rose (Winslet) was 17 and boarding the Titanic as a first-class passenger, along with her fiancé Cal Hockley (Zane) and her mother Ruth (Fisher). At the time she was very unhappy with her engagement. One night she wants to commit suicide by jumping off the ship, when she is stopped by a handsome young man named Jack Dawson (DiCaprio). Claiming she almost fell off to her fiancé, third-class passenger Jack is invited to attend a high society dinner party with Rose, Cal, Ruth, the ship's builder Thomas Andrews (Garbor), the wealthy Molly Brown (Bates) and the ignorant J. Bruce Ismay (Hyde).
During the voyage Kate and Jack fall in love, but on the night she asks him to sketch her, wearing nothing but 'the Heart of the Ocean', the Titanic collides with an iceberg. Within two hours, the enormous vessel will sink into the icy waters and there aren't enough lifeboats to save everyone...
