Review of Titan A.E. (2000) by Tamatai N — 06 Jun 2010
I must say, I was a little apprehensive about watching this, as I wasn't too sure whether it would be another lame kid's film or something really unique and exciting as I had read it to be. I'm happy to report that this was most-definitely the latter and was probably the most awesome American animated film I've seen for a long time.
It starts out fairly boring and somewhat cliched (after a spectacular opening sequence though), but as soon as the action starts and the storyline gets rolling, it manages to be really clever and engaging stuff.
There's great characters, awesome action and a surprisingly poignant and thought-provoking storyline that asks questions about the fate of our species once Earth has run its course, and if we really deserve surviving past our planet's expiration date.
Overall, if you ignore the obnoxious soundtrack and the numerous lame cliches, Titan A.E. is a very enjoyable and satisfying film for both young and the young at heart (i.e. geeks like me).
